The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, often leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.
But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually risen the cost of oil, the issue of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In an area that has among the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one business is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It’s established the Middle East’s first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving profitable too, currently their client-list contains McDonald’s.
